West Brom end unwanted record vs Leicester that stretched back almost eight years

West Brom conceded in stoppage time to draw 1-1 with Leicester City on Friday night.

The Baggies were unable to get back to winning ways in the Championship, as they were left to rue missed chances on a frustrating evening in B71.

Samuel Iling-Junior put West Brom ahead in the early stages, before a cruel Nat Phillips own goal saw the result slip away as the clock ticked down, just minutes after Josh Maja had spurned a golden opportunity to put the game to bed.

It was a hugely frustrating result for Ryan Mason and his men, but they do at least have one positive to take from Friday’s encounter.

West Brom end five-game losing run vs Leicester City

West Brom have a dismal record against Leicester City of late, with the Foxes having got the better of them all too often in recent years.

The Baggies’ last victory over the East Midlands outfit came way back in 2016, when second half goals from James Morrison and Matt Phillips secured all three points at the King Power Stadium.

However, since then, it has been a tale of woe for Albion, who had lost five consecutive games against Friday’s opponents in the build up to this clash.

You had to go back to October 2017 for the last time the B71 outfit avoided defeat against Leicester, so it was a positive to see that awful run come to an end after just shy of eight years.

However, given the circumstances surrounding the result, Mason and Co. will surely be left feeling like they have lost the game instead.

Albion have to out their frustration right vs Norwich City

West Brom’s bright start in the Championship is a thing of the past, as their three most recent results have dampened a large part of the optimism that had been built up in the opening weeks of the campaign.

The second tier is notorious for rewarding teams who can string together impressive runs of form, and with that in mind, it is vital that West Brom bounce back at the earliest opportunity.

They face a trip to Carrow Road to take on Norwich City next Wednesday night, and the quick turnaorund will surely be welcome for them as they aim to right the wrongs of the Leicester draw.

There is certainly no reason to panic for Albion moving forward, but they are a side who could certainly do with a win at the moment.
