Iling-Junior superb as 4/10 teammate has a nightmare – West Brom player ratings vs Norwich City

Josh Maja netted the only goal of the game for West Brom as they secured a crucial 1-0 win at Norwich City on Wednesday night.

The Baggies produced a strong defensive effort during their trip to Norfolk as they notched their third clean sheet of the season to help end their run of three games without a win.

Maja has been confined to substitute minutes for West Brom so far this term, but he seized his opportunity and struck the only goal of the game for the visitors in the 20th minute.

It was a promising display from Ryan Mason’s side, and with that in mind, West Brom News rates the performance of every Albion player out of 10.

Samuel Iling-Junior excellent vs Norwich City

Samuel Iling-Junior has had limited minutes for West Brom since he joined on loan from Aston Villa on deadline day, but he has started the last two games and has certainly made the most of the opportunity.

The winger looked energetic and threatening from start to finish at Carrow Road, and played a major role in the decisive moment of the game, as he provided the cross that was eventually turned home by Maja for the only goal.

Iling-Junior played with the endeavour and belief of a young player who is brimming with confidence, and he had some excellent touches inside the hosts’ half, which could have come to more on another night.

The England youth international is quickly making a name for himself in B71, and was worthy of an 8/10 rating on Wednesday night for a superb display.

George Campbell struggles in West Brom win

George Campbell has had some strong displays for West Brom since his arrival in the summer, especially considering he has largely played out of position in an unfamiliar right-back role.

However, this was not one of the American’s brightest displays. He struggled to help progress the ball up the pitch and looked every bit a centre-back playing out of position.

The 24-year-old had a nightmare evening on the right of the backline, and struggled to contain the hosts on his side of the pitch, as they whipped several balls into the Albion box.

Campbell has proven his worth so far this season with some hearty displays, but this was a performance that should convince Mason to give Alfie Gilchrist the chance to impress at the weekend.

The defender won just 42% of his duels, and it felt as though if the hosts were to score, it would have come down his flank, and with that in mind, he was worthy of little more than a 4/10 rating.
