West Brom star has made himself undroppable for Ryan Mason as game-changing stat emerges
West Brom could go second in the Championship when they travel to face Millwall on Saturday afternoon.
The Baggies are flying high amid an impressive start to the new campaign, which has seen them lose just two of their opening eight league outings.
They got themselves back on track in midweek when Josh Maja’s first competitive West Brom goal in exactly nine months secured all three points away at Norwich City.
Ryan Mason has shuffled the pack in B71 in recent weeks, and it has seen the emergence of a star who is quickly becoming irreplaceable.

Iling-Junior key to West Brom take-on improvement
Samuel Iling-Junior has been a revelation for West Brom in their last two league outings.
The Aston Villa loanee has had to bide his time in order to receive his chance to impress, but he has seized his opportunity with both hands of late.
The winger found the back of the net with a superb solo goal on his first start in the 1-1 draw with Leicester City, and he followed that up by providing the cross that was eventually turned in by Maja to secure the three points against Norwich.
Stats (per game) | Iling-Junior Total |
Minutes | 58 |
Accurate Passes | 11 (77%) |
Key Passes | 0.3 |
Successful Dribbles | 1 (75%) |
Iling-Junior has been a standout performer across both of the Baggies’ last two games, and his impact has now been highlighted even further by this stat.
Albion hadn’t scored a goal as a result of a successful take-on all season until Iling-Junior’s full debut against Leicester, according to Albion Analysis via their X account.
However, they have since scored twice after a successful dribble, with the Villa Park loanee supplying the build-up play for both strikes.

Iling-Junior is undroppable in Ryan Mason’s transition-focused style
West Brom’s win at Norwich was another example of them absorbing pressure from their hosts and using counter attacks to their advantage to get three points.
That style of play has already brought Albion success on several occasions already this term, and having two pacy and slippery wingers is key to transitioning quickly from defence into attack.
With that in mind, Iling-Junior has surely already shown himself to be undroppable for the boss, as he provides a similar ball-carrying threat to Mikey Johnston on the opposite flank.
The Black Country outfit have to move the ball quickly while breaking forward if their style is to have any chance of being effective, and with that in mind, the youngster simply has to start moving forward.
