Supercomputer makes early prediction for West Brom vs Preston

West Brom return to action next weekend when they host Preston.

Form has been hard to come by for the Baggies as of late, with West Brom’s 3-0 defeat to Millwall being their third loss in the last five games.

As a result, Albion have slipped down to seventh in the Championship, only above Millwall as a result of their marginally superior goal difference.

However, the Baggies will be looking to pick up only their second win since the end of August when they host Preston at The Hawthorns.

Ryan Mason needs to get his side back on track

In all honesty, the Championship is lacking quality so far this season, with Leicester the only one of the three relegated sides that look likely to achieve anything.

That, added with the fact that Sheffield United are rock bottom of the division, should give West Brom hope that they can achieve something themselves.

West Brom’s stats this season

Of course, winning games is going to be essential to their hopes, with Opta‘s latest predictions forecasting the Baggies to pick up all three points against Preston.

Ryan Mason‘s side have been awarded a 49.2 per cent chance of a win next weekend, while the visitors have just a 25.3 per cent chance.

It means that West Brom are among the most likely to win their encounter next weekend across the Championship, with only Leicester and Coventry above them.

West Brom vs Preston head-to-head

These two sides have faced off against each other on 122 occasions, dating all the way back to 1887 when Albion secured a 3-1 win in the FA Cup.

Since then, West Brom have won 53 times, with Preston quite far behind them with just 41 wins.

The Baggies are unbeaten against Preston since 2022, with four wins and one draw in that time.

Last time out, a brace from Josh Maja and a goal from Callum Styles earned a 3-1 win for West Brom against Preston in January, who scored a consolation goal in the 70th minute courtesy of Ryan Ledson.
