Erling Haaland spotted guiding West Brom’s Aune Heggebo – Here’s what happened
West Brom couldn’t find the back of the net in their 3-0 defeat to Millwall last time out.
Ryan Mason has faced striker issues already for Albion this season, as attacking play has been criticised before the October international break.
Josh Maja has returned from injury and looks to compete with Baggies forward Aune Heggebo.
Heggebo has come under fire at West Brom, as he has failed to hit the ground running at The Hawthorns since making the switch from Norway.
While away with the Norwegian national team, lethal goal scorer Erling Haaland seemed to have some strong advice for West Brom’s struggling centre-forward.

Erling Haaland urges West Brom’s Aune Heggebo to press more
Haaland’s numbers speak for themself, and Heggebo will have a hard time finding his way into Norway’s starting eleven.
Despite not playing for Norway yet in the international break, Heggebo could really benefit from Haaland, who was caught chatting to the Baggies striker while being mic’d up on the YouTube channel for Norway’s national team.
Haaland said, “Aune, you press every time. You run,” while offering signals with his hands.
- Heggebo has played nine times in the Championship
- He’s only scored once
- The striker has provided two assists
When he returns to The Fitlife Foods Performance Centre, Heggebo needs to prove to Mason that he can lead the line for West Brom.
Ryan Mason may drop Heggebo
At the time, Heggebo was an exciting signing for Albion; young, hungry, and a proven goalscoring record.
However, Heggebo has only found the back of the net on two occasions in all competitions for the Baggies, as patience is running thin.
| Games | Goals | Expected Goals (xG) |
| 9 | 1 | 2.40 |
Heggebo hasn’t been short of goalscoring opportunities, as some chances have been put on a plate for him.
The Norwegian striker is massively underperforming in terms of expected goals, which is always a worrying sign.
The striker needs to do much more than just press for the Black Country Club, but more running would be a good start.
