‘Isaac Price wonder goal should have been disallowed in West Brom win vs Preston’

West Brom moved up to fifth in the Championship following a much-needed win over Preston on Saturday afternoon.

West Brom beat Preston 2-1 to secure their first win at The Hawthorns since August, much to the relief of Ryan Mason.

Mikey Johnston and Isaac Price both scored screamers, with Michael Smith’s late consolation amounting to nothing for Preston.

The match was controversial to say the least, and new footage in the build-up to Price’s strike has left Preston fans furious.

Isaac Price’s goal was should have been disallowed

Preston fans were already furious with referee Andrew Kitchen over his failure to award North End a penalty after Toby Collyer’s tackle on Harrison Armstrong.

With the Baggies already 1-0 up, Alex Mowatt drove forward with the ball and found Price, who curled a brilliant effort past Daniel Iversen.

However, in the lead-up to the goal, Mowatt appeared to shove Ben Whiteman to the ground when regaining possession of the ball.

Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, ex-PGMOL chief and FIFA-listed referee Keith Hackett said that Price’s goal shouldn’t have counted.

He said: “This is a foul, and the referee at that point should have stopped the game.

The offender illegally gained possession, and his team went on to score.”

Regardless of the incident, Price simply won’t care, as he continues his excellent record in front of goal.

Isaac Price continues his fine scoring form

Price has been fantastic for West Brom this season, with his influence in attack proving crucial to West Brom’s form.

Having gone through the Everton youth academy, Price enjoyed his first period of success in senior football for Belgian side Standard Liege, before moving to West Brom in January.

His goal against Preston summed up his quality, and West Brom fans have been delighted with his ruthlessness in front of goal all season.

Alongside Mowatt and Mikey Johnston, Price has become a real game-changer for the Baggies, and he is someone who can produce a moment of magic out of nowhere.

Mason has a real gem on his hands, and Price’s availability will be key if West Brom are to push for promotion and a return to the Premier League this season.
