Aune Heggebo returns in three Ryan Mason changes – West Brom predicted XI vs Watford
Ryan Mason will be hoping to build on West Brom’s win over Preston when they take on Watford on Wednesday.
West Brom triumphed in a 2-1 win over Preston thanks to brilliant goals from Mikey Johnston and Isaac Price.
This was exactly the reaction fans would’ve craved after Albion’s humiliating 3-0 defeat to Millwall before the international break.
While West Brom are surprisingly not the favourites against Watford, Mason is set to field a team that will hopefully change their fortunes.

Aune Heggebo returns as Samuel Iling-Junior dropped
Johnston and Price’s performances for West Brom against Preston means that there is little chance the two will be dropped.
Meanwhile, Samuel Iling-Junior had one of his more quieter performances for the Baggies. As a result, Karlan Grant, who was substituted on during the final minutes of the game, could start for Albion for the first time since their win over Wrexham.
Mason was scrutinised for his controversial decision to start Aune Heggebo for West Brom in their defeat to Millwall despite Josh Maja netting the game before.
While fans will be hoping that the Baggies coach has learned his lesson, recent history dictates that he’s prone to committing the same mistake more than once.
As a result, it would not come as a surprise if Heggebo returned to the starting lineup to face Watford.

Alex Mowatt’s sensational performance against Preston proved yet again how essential he is to this West Brom side.
However, despite bagging an assist, Toby Collyer could ride the bench for Jayson Molumby in the next game given the quick turnaround.
Albion’s backline and keeper will likely remain unchanged, with all five consistently starting for Mason this season.
Ryan Mason will need to fight for a positive result
West Brom have won one in their last five games against Watford, with the Hornets winning twice.
- Albion have won two in their last five Championship games
- Watford have also won two in their last five Championship games
- Five points separate the two in the table
Given their recent history, the odds do not look great for Mason. And while Albion are ahead on the table, the two teams have performed similarly as of late.
As a result, with their latest results and the fact that West Brom are not favourites, Mason will need to devise an excellent gameplan if he wants to collect all three points on Wednesday.
