Youssouf Mulumbu takes unprompted swipe at Tony Pulis after image shared from Hawthorns

Youssouf Mulumbu is a player who remains hugely respected among the West Brom fanbase more than a decade on from his exit.

Mulumbu continues to appease West Brom fans with his social media activity and that respect is very much mutual.

Former DR Congo international Mulumbu is one of West Brom’s best ever deadline day signings, having gone on to make over 200 appearances for the Baggies in all competitions.

Mulumbu played under numerous managers across seven seasons at The Hawthorns, and the 38-year-old has made his distaste for one of those – Tony Pulis – clear with his latest social media activity.

Youssouf Mulumbu hits out at Tony Pulis and Richard Garlick

A number of West Brom players from the turn of the 2010s have called time on their careers, with Mulumbu recently reacting to Carlos Vela’s retirement.

Mulumbu’s own time at The Hawthorns came to an end in 2015, and it did not end on good terms with then-manager Pulis.

Pulis froze the midfielder out of his side and, worse than that, did not allow the fan favourite a chance to say goodbye on the final day of the season when it was apparent he was leaving.

Mulumbu made his thoughts on Pulis, and former West Brom director Richard Garlick, clear in a post on his personal X account on Monday.

The PSG academy product was replying to a post in which his image at The Hawthorns, remembering former players, has been covered up by a pillar.

I have seen it before and same on the wall where we can only see my shadow,” he said. “I love and I will always love West Brom and the fans.

“But from Tony Pulis to Richard Garlick I only have bad things to say. Baggies forever.”

West Brom did not waste long at all on the back of the defeat to Arsenal on the final day of the 2014-15 season to confirm Mulumbu’s exit upon the expiry of his contract.

What happened to Mulumbu after West Brom exit?

Mulumbu joined Norwich City not long after his West Brom departure and spent two years at Carrow Road.

A move to Kilmarnock followed, where Mulumbu reunited with Steve Clarke, with his form earning him a move to Scottish giants Celtic a year later.

That is when Mulumbu’s career began to wind down, with a return to Kilmarnock followed by stints with Saint-Eloi Lupopo in his homeland and Orleans in France.

It is those six years with West Brom, though, that Mulumbu will be best remembered.
