Toby Collyer suffers West Brom injury as Ryan Mason reveals issues at Manchester United

West Brom have been handed a new blow with Toby Collyer set for a spell on the sidelines.

Collyer has shown his ability in glimpses for West Brom, starring in the 3-0 loss to Millwall on 4 October.

However, he has been unable to nail down a regular starting berth in the middle of the park for The Hawthorns outfit.

Now, a worrying admission has been made by Albion boss Ryan Mason on the Manchester United loanee.

Toby Collyer to miss Watford vs West Brom

Collyer has been ruled out of West Brom’s trip to Watford on 21 October with a hamstring injury, and it has the potential to be an issue going forward.

Mason confirmed the injury and revealed a similar previous problem at Old Trafford, where he is on loan from.

Speaking to the media ahead of the contest, he said: “Hopefully, it’s not too bad. He had a few injuries at Man Utd last season in a similar area.

“He’s a young boy, he’s still growing, he’s still developing, and we need to be aware of that. So, yes, the scan come back, it’s something that’s going to keep him out, but hopefully not for too long.”

West Brom need Collyer back as soon as possible

While he has not forged a starting berth since joining the Black Country outfit, he is still a valuable asset for the Baggies.

Mason has constantly used Collyer off the bench, to see out results and try to get his side back into games when they are behind.

The Red Devils star has started the last two games, becoming a more important player, and that may have continued had he not been injured, but now, he faces a spell away from the pitch.

That increases the pressure on Mason’s current starters in the engine room, Jayson Molumby and Alex Mowatt, to stay fit while Collyer is out of action, otherwise there may be a huge problem.

If one of them gets injured, it could cause issues for Mason and Co., as it would leave them short in the position and potentially hamper their promotion charge, or playoff charge.
