Shilen Patel sends message to West Brom fans after what he witnessed at Vicarage Road
Shilen Patel was in attendance as West Brom fell to defeat against Watford at Vicarage Road on Wednesday.
Isaac Price opened the scoring in Hertfordshire, but Imran Louza and Rocco Vata netted as West Brom fell to a 2-1 loss at Watford.
Ryan Mason was furious with Samuel Iling-Junior in the first half and his mood would not have improved in the second 45.
Aune Heggebo was fortunate not to be sent off for West Brom on what was an all-round night to forget against the Hornets.
Patel witnessed West Brom‘s fourth Championship loss of the season up close and sent a message to supporters after the match.
Shilen Patel speaks out after ‘tough night’ for West Brom
The result and performance was all the tougher to take given West Brom dug deep to beat Preston four days earlier.
The Watford match was the second of three games in the space of a week, with a trip to Ipswich Town up next on Saturday.
| Fixture | Date |
| West Brom 2-1 Preston | 18/10 |
| Watford 2-1 West Brom | 22/10 |
| Ipswich vs West Brom | 25/10 |
Patel was quick to point out the difficult nature of the Championship grind as he sent a message to supporters via his personal X account.
“Tough night in a tough week in the toughest league in the world, but we will preserve,” he said.
“Grateful for another evening of support from our dedicated West Brom contingent in the away end. There will be more to cheer for ahead.”
West Brom fans will now travel in their numbers once again to Portman Road to face an Ipswich side sitting four points and four places worse off in the division.
West Brom’s final Championship position predicted by supercomputer
Opta’s supercomputer predicted Watford would beat West Brom and so that proved at Vicarage Road on Wednesday.
That same supercomputer has now updated its final predicted Championship table, with West Brom predicted to finish in seventh place.
That is a three-place improvement on where the Baggies currently sit in the table, but would mean narrowly missing out on a place in the playoffs.
- West Brom are currently 10th in the Championship after losing to Watford
- Opta’s supercomputer has them to climb three places to seventh
- That would not be enough for a place in the end-of-season playoffs
Albion are projected to finish with around 66 points and fall just short of QPR in sixth, with Bristol City, Millwall and Leicester City also in the playoff positions.
The supercomputer has Coventry City and Middlesbrough to remain as the top two.
