Supercomputer predicts result of Ipswich vs West Brom

West Brom head to Portman Road to face Ipswich in the Championship on Saturday.

West Brom’s 2-0 loss to Watford on Wednesday evening has left the Baggies in tenth place in the Championship table.

West Brom fans are losing faith in Ryan Mason, as their positive start to the season has been followed by a disappointing set of results.

Ipswich have struggled since returning to the Championship, and have lost their last two matches under Kieran McKenna.

Ipswich predicted as clear favourites to beat West Brom

If it weren’t for Isaac Price’s brilliance for West Brom, Mason’s side would be much further down the table.

According to Opta’s supercomputer, West Brom are set to continue their bad run of form at Portman Road on 25 October.

West Brom are unbeaten in their last three visits to Portman Road, yet the evidence clearly suggests that it’ll be a tricky match.

The Baggies can find hope in the fact that Ipswich were comfortably beaten 3-0 by Charlton on Tuesday, and Saturday’s match should be an incredibly open game.

Both West Brom and Ipswich were predicted to finish in the top six at the start of the season, and their clash could be a springboard for either team to propel themselves into play-off contention again.

Ipswich are likely to dominate the ball against West Brom, and this could play exactly into Mason’s game plan.

West Brom must hit Ipswich on the counter-attack

West Brom’s wins this season have come when they’ve surrendered the lion’s share of possession, and that’s exactly what they must do on Saturday.

Charlton enjoyed just 32 per cent of the ball against Ipswich, and McKenna’s side struggled to deal with their threat on the break.

Despite having the second-highest average possession this season, Ipswich are sat 14th in the Championship table, and it’s clear that teams have exploited their weakness in transition.

Mason must do this if he wants to secure West Brom’s third away win of the season; otherwise, the Baggies will continue to drop further down the table.
