Aune Heggebo axed in two changes – West Brom predicted XI vs Ipswich Town

West Brom will be hoping to bounce back from defeat against Ipswich Town on Saturday.

West Brom were defeated 2-1 by Watford on 22 October, as Isaac Price’s opener was cancelled out by goals from Imran Louza and Rocco Vata.

The Hawthorns outfit travel to Portman Road on 25 October having won just two of their last six matches in the Championship.

Ryan Mason needs to turn it around at West Brom imminently; otherwise, their promotion ambitions may be dashed, before they really even start.

Aune Heggebo dropped as defender returns for West Brom

Aune Heggebo was lucky not to be sent off for West Brom against the Hornets, according to ex-FIFA referee Keith Hackett.

His reckless challenge on Hector Kyprianou, and his lack of impact in front of goal mean that he is expected to be axed by Mason for the clash with the Tractor Boys.

He is predicted to be replaced by Josh Maja, the Baggies’ top scorer in the league last season, in an attempt to change Albion’s fortunes.

Samuel Iling-Junior frustrated Mason in the Watford defeat, but he is expected to maintain his spot on the right wing, with Mikey Johnston taking his place on the left once again.

Price scored a stunning effort at Vicarage Road, and he is expected to feature in the number 10 role for Mason’s side, with Alex Mowatt and Ousmane Diakhite operating behind him.

Albion are expected to stick with the majority of the backline that started the loss, with George Campbell predicted to replace the injured Alfie Gilchrist at right-back.

The American came on in the 55th minute last time out, with an ankle injury ending an impressive evening for the 21-year-old.

The numbers behind Heggebo’s start at West Brom

Heggebo has enjoyed a mixed start to life in the Black Country, there have been flashes of his ability, but they have not been consistent enough.

The 24-year-old has featured 11 times in the second tier, with just one goal and two assists in those appearances.

As per Sofascore, Heggebo is taking 0.3 shots on target per game, and averages 0.5 key passes per match, which means he is neither shooting or creating enough to be the leading man.

Mason needs the Norway star to step up in the near future, but right now, he should be sitting on the bench behind Maja.

His lack of contributions when leading the line threatens to derail Albion’s promotion ambitions, and that cannot be tolerated.
