Supercomputer predicts outcome of West Brom vs Sheffield Wednesday

West Brom are desperate to get back to winning ways in the Championship.

Jack Clarke’s 83rd-minute strike condemned West Brom to a 1-0 defeat against Ipswich, with their away form continuing to worsen under Ryan Mason.

With the Baggies sitting in 11th place in the Championship table, Mason has come under scrutiny for some of the performances in recent weeks.

It’s imperative that the Baggies get back to winning ways when they take on Sheffield Wednesday at The Hawthorns on Saturday.

West Brom predicted as heavy favourites to beat Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday have just gone into administration, which has resulted in a 12-point deduction that leaves them bottom of the Championship with minus six points.

Whilst the circumstances around both clubs could not be any more different, it’s still up to the Baggies to break down a resilient team on Saturday.

According to Opta’s supercomputer, West Brom should not slip up at home against the struggling visitors.

West Brom were among the promotion favourites at the start of the season; however, no away wins since August have seen them crash down the table.

Saturday’s clash offers a great opportunity for Mason’s side to gain some confidence, and a convincing performance is required if they are to finally showcase their promotion credentials.

West Brom have relied on Isaac Price and Mikey Johnston too often this season, and Josh Maja and Aune Heggebo have a perfect opportunity to highlight their worth in the starting line-up.

The Baggies have struggled when travelling to take on Wednesday, yet at home, West Brom have been near-flawless in recent meetings.

West Brom look to extend promising home record against Sheffield Wednesday

West Brom are unbeaten against Wednesday in their last six matches at The Hawthorns, with the run stretching back to 2007.

Defensively, West Brom have been solid to a certain extent, yet it’s in attack where the Baggies have been struggling.

They’ve found it hard to break certain teams down, and they’ll face another stubborn side on 1 November.

Sitting just four points outside of the play-off places, a win for West Brom would put them right back in the mix; however, a loss would signal the most disastrous result of Mason’s managerial career.
