The West Brom hero who puts Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard to shame revealed
Chris Brunt is the closest thing West Brom fans aged below 40 have to a legend.
Between 2007 and 2020, Brunt played 421 times for West Brom, ranking him 14th in the club’s all-time list of appearances, scored 49 goals, supplied 83 assists and won promotion to the Premier League three times.
The former Baggies captain is also the most-capped player while at the Albion, having played 47 times for Northern Ireland while at The Hawthorns.
After leaving Albion for Bristol City and eventually retiring, Brunt got to play alongside his son at his testimonial at The Hawthorns in 2022.
Brunt got to manage West Brom in an interim capacity after Carlos Corberan left the Black Country club last December and is currently still at the Championship club as their loans manager.

Stats show just how good Chris Brunt was at set-pieces
Every now and then, West Brom fans are served a reminder of just how good Brunty was for them during their time in the Premier League.
The former Sheffield Wednesday winger, who later played at left-back and in the centre of midfield for Albion, was always known for his wand of a left foot, his crossing ability and his set-piece prowess.
But a lot of supporters probably don’t realise just how prolific Brunt was at taking set-pieces and corners.

Stats by Opta have emerged to show that no player in Premier League history has assisted more goals from set-pieces than Brunt.
That’s right. More than Cesc Fabregas, more than Steven Gerrard, more than Frank Lampard and more than Ryan Giggs.
In fact, none of the other seven players in the top eight for Premier League set-piece assists have played fewer times in the competition than Brunt, solidifying just how amazing that stat is.
Plus, you have to remember that Brunt was playing for a team that mainly finished in the bottom half and not the likes of Manchester United in their Sir Alex Ferguson period, Chelsea when Roman Abramovic first arrived and Liverpool when they were Champions of Europe.
In terms of all-time Premier League assists, Giggs leads the way with 162. Brunt is ranked joint-52nd alongside Paolo Di Canio, Les Ferdinand and Dwight Yorke with 49.
West Brom’s top appearance-makers of all time
Only 13 players have played for West Brom more than Brunt.
Tony Brown is widely known to hold the record for the most appearances for the Baggies, playing a staggering 720 times between 1963 and 1981.
Bomber Brown has also scored more goals than any Albion player in history, netting 279 times.
Len Millard, Ally Robertson, John Wile, Jesse Pennington and Ronnie Allen are among the West Brom legends to have featured more for the Black Country than Brunt, who you can see in the table below.
