Ryan Mason already faces West Brom sack after what happened vs Sheffield Wednesday

Pressure is already starting to pile on Ryan Mason, with West Brom fans voicing their opinion.

West Brom drew 0-0 at home to Sheffield Wednesday, in a game that was devoid of any quality from the home side, and not for the first time this season.

The Albion were dreadful, and their passive style of play was often met with boos from West Brom supporters, who are evidently growing frustrated with the lack of quality showcased by their side.

If results don’t improve, Mason will almost certainly receive the sack, with the Baggies now sitting 10th in the Championship, having won just five of their 13 fixtures so far.

West Brom fans are losing patience with Ryan Mason

The boos throughout the game were loud enough, but the feeling of the supporters was made clear when the full-time whistle went at The Hawthorns.

West Brom supporters booed their side off the pitch, and it would be a fair assumption that a lot of the anger is directed at Mason, who, after 13 games, has yet to showcase his ability to get the Baggies fighting for promotion.

There is a theme emerging this season, with West Brom yet to win a game in which they have had more possession than their opponents, and it was again the case against the Owls.

Albion struggled to create any real, clear-cut chances and just looked devoid of any ideas when it came to attacking a solid backline that wasn’t scared to drop deep.

The Championship is looking particularly strong this season, and yet West Brom are struggling to stand out as a genuine promotion candidate, which has to be the aim.

A lot of that is down to Mason, who will be feeling the pressure.

Ryan Mason has simple change to make to save his job

Playing with one up top simply isn’t working for West Brom, who have struggled to create many clear chances throughout the campaign.

However, with three strikers on the bench against the Owls, they have the option to go with two to lead the line, which would bring the best out of the likes of Aune Heggebo and Josh Maja.

Both have largely been starved of service in the current system, and could thrive when used alongside each other.

If Mason doesn’t at least try this going forward, it’s a mere acceptance that he is chasing a lost cause at The Hawthorns, and it won’t last much longer.
