Sky Sports told to intervene after farcical decision in West Brom stalemate vs Sheffield Wednesday
TV producers could get involved after a kit clash in Sheffield Wednesday’s draw away to West Brom.
West Brom were held to a 0-0 draw against bottom-of-the-table Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon, in a game that was devoid of any attacking quality.
The Baggies dominated possession, but did very little with it, with the Owls very rarely troubled at The Hawthorns.
While the game was a poor spectacle in itself, the decision to allow the kits to be used was significantly worse.

West Brom vs Sheffield Wednesday ridiculed for kit clash
Saturday’s clash at The Hawthorns was quite a painful watch for anyone affiliated with Albion, and it was only made worse by the eyesore that was on show.
West Brom and Wednesday had a clear kit clash, with the Owls wearing their new away kit for the first time this season.
Albion were in their traditional navy and white stripes, while the visitors wore lilac, both with white shirts and dark socks, and for those watching on TV, especially, it was remarkably hard to tell the two teams apart.
As a result, Keith Hackett exclusively told West Brom news that Sky Sports could get involved.
He said: “These two sets of kits are far too close and very difficult to see through the eyes of the television.
“I hope that the television producers have had words with the away team with a view to the club making a change (not happened).“
West Brom could have worn an alternative kit vs Sheffield Wednesday
Back in 2022, the EFL made a change that would allow clubs to wear either their second or third strip as the home team, to help supporters who are colour blind.
At the time, a statement read: “A home club will now be able to wear its ‘away’ or third kit where a clash may occur that would make it difficult for people who are colour blind to differentiate between the kits worn by both teams.”
In theory, this change was also made to help regulators identify potential kit clashes well in advance of gamers, which was evidently not thought of at The Hawthorns on Saturday.
With that said, while it was a sore sight for the eyes, West Brom will not be afforded that as an excuse for their woeful performance against the Owls.
