Ryan Mason will be sweating as terrifying Charlton stat emerges ahead of West Brom clash

Ahead of West Brom’s trip to Charlton, stats have emerged showing that the Addicks have won eight of their last nine league midweek games.

This comes from BBC Sport on 3 November, with this streak beginning after their 2-1 defeat to Crawley Town in December 2024.

With Ryan Mason under early pressure at The Hawthorns, there is already a big emphasis on the manager to get a win and end their three-match winless streak.

However, this may now prove to be a difficult task, with Charlton in excellent form.

This run has seen the newly-promoted side pick up memorable wins this campaign, including a 3-0 away win against Ipswich Town.

Ryan Mason could soon face the sack at West Brom

Going into the match, things do not look good for Mason.

Charlton are already the favourites against West Brom, with the London club now ahead of the Baggies in the table.

Therefore, if a fourth defeat is inflicted on Tuesday, Mason could well be on the verge of losing his job, especially if this is followed up with another loss against Oxford United on the weekend.

Unfortunately, time is running out for the young manager, and an incredible performance may be needed to ensure he remains in the dugout.

West Brom hold a good record against Charlton

Despite the recent dip in form, West Brom actually have a good record against Charlton.

The Baggies have not lost to the Addicks in their last eight meetings, with the last defeat coming in 2005 when both sides were in the Premier League.

The last time the two clubs met in the Championship was in 2020, which ended in a 2-2 draw, a repeat of the result from the reverse fixture that campaign.

While a point on the road may now be seen as a good result going into the fixture on Tuesday, it may not be enough to stop the criticism of Mason.
