Former West Brom manager openly puts himself forward for Wolves job – ‘If it happens, it happens’
A former West Brom manager has just thrown his hat into the ring to take the vacant Wolves job.
The Baggies’ bitter rivals are without a manager once again after sacking Vitor Pereira on Sunday, as they are currently sitting bottom of the Premier League table.
Pereira has delighted West Brom fans recently with some eye-catching comments on the Molineux outfit, whom he recently referred to as a “small club.”
Their black country rivals will be keen to get a new man in charge of the team as quickly as possible, and a former boss at The Hawthorns has now put himself forward.

Sam Allardyce open to taking Wolves job
Ex-West Brom star Derek McInnes has been one of the favourites to take the Wolves job so far, and former Baggies boss Sam Allardyce has also now thrown himself into the ring.
The 71-year-old has been out of work since he failed to keep Leeds United in the Premier League during his ill-fated four-game stint back in 2023, but he has an unmatched reputation for helping to keep sides in the top flight.
The managerial veteran has taken charge of a record nine top-flight clubs over the course of his career, and he has now revealed that he would be open to taking the Wolves job to make that 10.
“I suppose the amount of times I’ve said I might retire, I can never say never the amount of times I’ve actually bounced back,” Allardyce said when asked on talkSPORT if he would consider taking on the Wolves job.
“So, Wolves was one of my childhood favourite clubs that I started watching, but you know, who knows?
“I think I’ve heard they’re looking for a younger coach anyway, so not too sure my time will ever come round again. But I sit and wait, you never know, I’m not actively searching, if it happens, it happens, if it doesn’t, it doesn’t.”
Sam Allardyce suffered his first ever relegation with West Brom
Allardyce managed West Brom in difficult circumstances, as he took the reins in B71 midway through the Covid-19 pandemic back in December 2020.
He picked up where Slaven Bilic left off after the Croatian’s dismissal, but was unable to oversee the kind of turnaround that has become associated with such an expert firefighter over the years.
The Englishman failed to achieve his remit of preserving Albion’s top-flight status, and they ultimately slipped into the second tier after a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal in May 2021.
It was the first Premier League relegation of Allardyce’s managerial career, and to this day, one of the only occasions where he hasn’t been able to live up to the expectations set out for him at a club.
Regardless of his failings at the helm for the Baggies, it would surely leave something of a sour taste in the mouth for the fans if he did end up at their closest rivals in the near future.
