Sky Sports have shocker over Alex Mowatt comment during live West Brom coverage

West Brom supporters will have been left baffled by an Alex Mowatt claim that was made on Sky Sports in their loss to Charlton.

Mowatt started as West Brom suffered a late defeat in the Championship clash, with a last-gasp strike finding its way under Josh Griffiths.

The result leaves Ryan Mason under even pressure than he already was after just one win in six league matches.

While The Hawthorns faithful will be furious about the result, they will also be up in arms over something that was said about Mowatt.

Bizarre Alex Mowatt claim made live on air in Charlton vs West Brom

Mowatt has been one of West Brom’s best players this season, and he has not missed a league match, which makes the claim even more shocking.

The commentator claimed that Mowatt was regularly missing for Albion, saying: “The problem with Alex Mowatt is he’s injury prone & only played mid 20 games last season.”

However, that is simply false, the 30-year-old featured 43 times in the Baggies’ 46 league matches in the last campaign.

Why Ryan Mason can rely on Mowatt to step up

Mowatt is one of the most experienced members of the Albion squad, and Mason can rely on him to step up and be counted.

He produced seven goals and two assists last season, and has so far contributed with one assist this time around.

Mowatt has had fitness issues, that is well documented among the Baggies fanbase, but he did not miss anywhere near 20 matches last season, as stated on commentary.

Fans were delighted when the veteran signed a contract extension to stay in the West Midlands this summer, and it is not a surprise.

He is vital for this Albion side, when he performs, they do, but unfortunately, it was not enough to come away with the win at the Valley.

Mason needs Mowatt to be at his best in the next few matches, or it could be curtains for the ex-Tottenham coach’s time in the Black Country.
