Injury expert drops Jayson Molumby update after surprise announcement away from West Brom

Jayson Molumby looks set to miss West Brom’s game against Oxford United, despite being called up to Republic of Ireland’s national team on Friday.

Republic of Ireland have revealed their 25-man team for the upcoming November international break, which featured both Molumby and Mikey Johnston from Albion.

Molumby has been out with a calf injury after picking up the issue against Preston in West Brom’s 2-1 win over Preston in October.

West Brom play Oxford at The Hawthorns on Saturday and look set to be without their key man once again.

The Irishman has missed four crucial games for the Black Country club since his calf issue, as an injury expert has delivered more woe for Baggies fans.

Jayson Molumby’s calf injury situation is ‘tricky’

Ryan Mason is under serious threat of being sacked by West Brom after his recent form as boss.

The last thing that Mason and West Brom fans want right now is to hear that Molumby won’t be playing on Saturday, but that appears to be the case.

In an exclusive interview with West Brom News, Dr Rajpal Brar revealed that Molumby faces a serious risk of further aggravating his current injury and that he will miss the match against Oxford.

Brar said: “He’s missed two games since then and looks set to miss more.

He re-aggravated a calf injury, and these can be quite tricky to deal with due to how sensitive they are and the level of demand they come under.

“It doesn’t sound like it’s a significant issue and it’s hard to say if it was mishandled or not because we don’t have the full details to understand risk/reward of him playing.”

Molumby return likely to come in late November

With all the commotion surrounding Mason currently, West Brom have yet to announce that the head coach will take his usual press conference before the game against Oxford, with no updates from local press.

Journalists would almost certainly ask about Molumby’s situation, as his inclusion in the Ireland team will have given Baggies fans hope that he may be fit for the game.

However, Molumby will most likely be eased back in for Ireland, and may only get minutes in their second game of the break, which comes against Hungary on Saturday, 16 November.

This means that Albion fans will most likely have to wait until the international break to see their midfield man running the show once again.
