Carlos Corberan plan clear amid West Brom and Middlesbrough links

West Brom fan favourite Carlos Corberan has had his say on speculation linking him with a return to the Championship.

Corberan left West Brom on Christmas Day in 2024 to take over at Valencia, but it is not going his way at his boyhood club.

The Blanquinegros sit 17th in La Liga, but that has not stopped Corberan from being linked with the West Brom job and other vacancies in English football.

He has been touted as a contender for the Middlesbrough role, if Rob Edwards takes over at Wolves, which looks increasingly likely.

Carlos Corberan dismisses Valencia exit rumours

Some West Brom fans don’t want Corberan back, and given that Ryan Mason still has the support of the hierarchy, the Boro job seems more realistic.

However, the Spanish manager has suggested that he is fully committed to his current side, and wants to get them out of danger.

Speaking to the media after Valencia’s 1-1 draw with Real Betis on 9 November, he said: “Regarding any rumours, I can only say that my commitment to turning things around is the absolute maximum.

“We’re going to give it our all to reverse this situation because nothing hurts us more than seeing Valencia like this.”

Corberan will not come back to haunt West Brom, yet

The idea of Corberan returning to the second tier with a team other than the Baggies would be unfathomable for many of The Hawthorns‘ faithful.

There is a sense that he has unfinished business with Albion, given the nature of his departure, halfway through the campaign, with the Baggies fighting for the playoffs.

The 42-year-old seems to be committed to Valencia, rather than considering a potential approach from the Teesiders, which will be a relief for Throstles supporters.

Corberan constantly worked with limited funding in the Black Country, and the idea of him returning with the club in a better financial position than the dismal one that they were in when he left, is a tempting one.

Whether that happens, or he comes back to a different team in the division, remains to be seen, but right now, he seems insistent that he is staying put.
