West Brom star reacts as Morgan Rogers signs new Aston Villa contract
Chris Mepham has sent a message to Morgan Rogers after the former West Brom academy product agreed a new contract with Aston Villa.
Aston Villa announced Rogers‘ extension on Monday, as the former Albion man has signed a contract that runs until 2031 at Villa Park.
The England international left West Brom in 2019 to join Manchester City’s academy, but the deal saw the Black Country club benefit financially from his sale.
West Brom received a cash windfall from Man City over Rogers’ permanent sale to Middlesbrough in 2023, as the attacking midfielder has been on a meteoric rise to stardom since leaving Albion.
Rogers was recently spotted back at The Hawthorns when shooting an advert for Puma’s Represent collection.
It’s safe to say that the former West Brom man hasn’t forgotten his roots.

Chris Mepham shows love to Morgan Rogers
Mepham has been great for West Brom since arriving permanently from Bournemouth in the summer.
The centre-back helped Sunderland achieve Premier League promotion last season, and will be hoping to do the same with Albion this year.
- Mepham has made 11 appearances in the Championship so far for West Brom
- He has kept three clean sheets
- Mepham averages a positive Sofascore rating of 7.03
On Instagram, Rogers shared photos of himself and Unai Emery both looking delighted next to his new Aston Villa contract.
Big-name players like Jordan Henderson, Curtis Jones and Ollie Watkins all congratulated Rogers, and so did Mepham.
Mepham commented on Rogers’ post with four love heart emojis.
Nobody from a West Brom perspective would have ever imagined that Rogers would reach the heights that he now has.
Morgan Rogers’ career going from strength to strength since West Brom exit
Rogers is now valued at €65million, according to Transfermarkt, which equates to £56.55m, a figure that West Brom could certainly do with right now.
To put that into perspective, some of West Brom’s most expensive signings, like Jake Livermore, Solomon Rondon, Jay Rodriguez and Nacer Chadli, all cost less combined for Albion than what Rogers is currently worth.
| Team | Games | Goals | Assists |
| England national team | 10 | 1 | 1 |
| Aston Villa | 86 | 18 | 17 |
| Middlesbrough | 33 | 7 | 8 |
Rogers continues to improve, and while Albion may look silly for selling him, it’s only a compliment to their youth academy set-up.
The former Albion man will be hopeful that he will earn a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s final squad for England’s upcoming 2026 World Cup campaign.
