Patrick Bamford talks underway as West Brom fans call for ex-Leeds star’s arrival
Patrick Bamford is in talks with Sheffield United over a potential move.
The striker has been without a football club since the summer when he was released by Leeds United.
Since then, the 32-year-old has been linked to numerous clubs, especially those struggling in front of goal.
Considering West Brom’s current woes up top, the former England international could have been a good addition for Ryan Mason’s side. However, this now seems unlikely.

Sheffield United eye short-term deal for Patrick Bamford
According to BBC Sport on 12 November, Sheffield United are in talks to sign Bamford on a short-term deal.
This could last until January as the Blades look to get their campaign back on track.
However, many Baggies fans are likely to be annoyed by the news, with West Brom fans calling for Bamford to be signed on Tuesday.
- Bamford was at Leeds United between 2018-25
- Here, he oversaw two promotions to the Premier League
- The striker is currently is free agent after being released by Leeds
A ‘pay-as-you-play’ deal was mooted by some, with many of the Black Country outfit’s attackers woefully out of form.
Josh Maja has been dreadful for West Brom of late, while Aune Heggebo only got his second Championship goal of the season on the weekend.

However, unless Mason has his eye on another free agent, it appears this issue will not be solved until January, barring a turnaround in form by the Baggies’ attackers.

Can Bamford have an impact in the Championship?
As exciting as the signing of Bamford would be for any Championship club, realistically, the striker is now past his best.
Playing for a Leeds team that stormed to the second-tier title last season, the attacker failed to score a single goal, despite playing 17 matches.
| Patrick Bamford in the Championship last season | |
| Appearances | 17 |
| Goals | 0 |
| Assists | 0 |
Therefore, in a weaker team, there is no evidence that Bamford could make a positive impact at either Sheffield United or West Brom.
As a result, Mason may be better off waiting until January to fix the Baggies’ attacking issues.
