Ryan Mason needs to take note of subtle hint dropped by Isaac Price, it’ll only benefit West Brom

Isaac Price has spoken about the impact his Northern Ireland head coach has had on him, which Ryan Mason quite simply needs to take notice of.

Mason is on borrowed time at West Brom as the Baggies’ latest win against Oxford United in the Championship may have kept him in a job.

Price has been phenomenal for West Brom, and Mason truly has his attacking midfielder to thank.

The Northern Irishman has helped drag the Baggies out of deep waters this season, with Price having his own Goal of the Season competition at West Brom.

While away from the Black Country club, Price may have sent a message to Mason after what he said about his Northern Ireland head coach.

Isaac Price says Michael O’Neill gives him ‘freedom’

West Brom had a good start to the season, and so did Price.

However, cracks have begun to appear under Mason’s leadership, which has negatively affected Price’s performances for Albion.

Price has scored two goals in his past 13 club matches compared to 10 in 26 outings for Northern Ireland.

Ahead of Northern Ireland’s clash against Slovakia on Friday, Price alluded to his head coach away from West Brom, Michael O’Neill, as a big reason why he is now a goalscorer.

Price said, as quoted by BBC Sport: “Michael told me he thought I’m an attacking threat, I should get in the box, and then I had 12 months where the ball wouldn’t stop going into the net.

“I think it’s the freedom that the manager gives me. I’m in a position where I’m always in and around the box and I get a lot of chances.”

Price’s comments suggest that Mason is not using his star man to his strengths at the detriment of West Brom

Ryan Mason needs to give Price a free roaming role

When an Albion team sheet is released on matchday, Baggies fans won’t even look for Price’s name as he should be the first on there anyway.

Price usually adopts the number 10 position for Albion, but recent games have seen his output isolated.

For Mason to get his star man back to his best for West Brom, he needs to give Price the same freedom he gets for Northern Ireland.

West Brom would surely see the benefits if Mason were to do this, as Price’s astonishing performances for Northern Ireland are clearly no fluke.
