Ryan Mason will be ecstatic after Mikey Johnston developments away from West Brom
Ryan Mason will be keeping a close eye on Mikey Johnston in the international break.
West Brom have six players away with their nations, and they will be hoping that nobody picks up an injury while away from The Hawthorns.
The Baggies face a crucial Championship clash with league leaders Coventry on 22 November when they return to action.
The team news for the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup qualifier against Portugal will be music to Mason‘s ears.
Mikey Johnston stars from the bench for Ireland
Johnston has been one of West Brom’s best performers this season, with two goals and three assists in 14 matches so far.
Mason needs him to come back to the Black Country without any fitness issues, and he will be ecstatic after he was left on the bench at the Aviva Stadium on 13 November.
He may well come on to play some part, but it will not be the full 90 minutes, so there is less chance that he will get injured.

West Brom need Johnston to be in top form when he returns
Albion need their best players to step up in the next few weeks, to start climbing back up the division.
Mason’s spell with the West Midlands outfit started positively, but they have won just two of their last six matches in the league, and some supporters are calling for him to be sacked.
- Johnston has played 76 times for the Baggies since his 2024 move from Celtic
- He has notched 12 goals and 11 assists in that time
- He has started to become a key player for Mason
The ex-Tottenham coach is under significant pressure, and he needs positive results to turn it around in B71., in his first managerial spell.
He has got one with Johnston not starting, and while it is not on the pitch, it will still give him joy that his man is not being put at risk.
It means that the Ireland international should be in better condition to help his club side when they are back in action.
