Everton player inspired by Isaac Price, eager to follow in West Brom star’s footsteps

Everton academy star Jack Patterson has revealed he wishes to follow in West Brom star Isaac Price’s footsteps.

Price was one of several West Brom stars called up to their respective international sides for the international break.

West Brom’s 2-1 win over Oxford United before the club season halted meant that the midfielder travelled to his national team with peace of mind.

Like the rest of the team, Price has struggled at West Brom these past couple of weeks, but he’ll be hoping time away from The Hawthorns will help him rediscover his best form.

Jack Patterson wants Northern Ireland senior recognition

Price has become a starter for Northern Ireland during the FIFA World Cup 2025 qualifiers after beginning his international career at the Under-16 level.

He earned his first call-up to the senior national team on 7 March 2023 for the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying against San Marino and Finland.

Everton academy star Patterson has been called up to the Under-21s for their Euro qualifying games against Latvia and Greece.

The midfielder is seen as one of the Toffees’ most promising youngsters and is hoping this call-up will earn him senior recognition for both club and country.

“My main ambition is to play for Northern Ireland and Everton at club level,” Patterson told the Belfast Telegraph’s print edition on 13 November.

“International recognition would help a lot. I was delighted to get a call-up for the squads.

“Hopefully, I can follow in [Patrick Kelly’s] footsteps; Isaac Price, Callum Marshall and Shea Charles have also made the jump.”

Price will no doubt be honoured that Patterson is keen to follow in his footsteps and represent his country at the highest level.

How has Isaac Price performed in Northern Ireland’s World Cup qualifiers?

Price sent Ryan Mason an indirect message when relaying his attacking duties at the international level.

Indeed, the attacking midfielder has netted one goal from 1.5 shots in their World Cup qualifiers, according to Sofascore.

Furthermore, the Albion superstar has been defensively solid, recovering 4.5 balls per game. He has also averaged 1.3 possessions won in the final third and has won 56 per cent of his total duels.

As a result, it is not difficult to see why Price has quickly emerged as a fan favourite for his international side.
