Ryan Mason must show faith in West Brom starlet likened to N’Golo Kante amid exit worry
Ryan Mason needs to put his trust in Dauda Idrissa to do the business for West Brom.
Idrissa has been impressing for West Brom at youth levels for a while now and has yet to receive a first-team call-up.
West Brom are hopeful of promotion this season, and there is no reason why the defensive midfielder, who has been compared to World Cup winner N’Golo Kante, can’t make an impact in the future.
The 17-year-old Italian is highly rated at the Black Country club, but there may be concerns over a potential exit.

Aston Villa could steal Dauda Idrissa from West Brom next
Albion have seen success from promoting their youth players in recent times, but Mason seems reluctant to play a batch of exciting youngsters coming through the ranks.
Ex-Baggies captain Kyle Bartley compared Idrissa to Kante in October, making Mason seem foolish for not putting his faith in the Italian.
Bartley said, as quoted by Express & Star: “We’ve got Dauda Idrissa, an Italian lad who plays in midfield.
“If I were to compare him to someone, it would probably be N’Golo Kante or Moises Caicedo. He’s not the biggest, but he’s so tenacious and really, really good on the ball.”
- Idrissa’s West Brom contract runs until June 2027
- He represents Italy at youth level
- Idrissa mainly plays as a defensive midfielder, but can also play centre-back
Aston Villa have regularly poached Albion’s youth players like Tim Iroegbunam, Luka Lynch and Triston Rowe.
Idrissa could be next if Mason doesn’t give him game time, with other clubs no doubt beginning to already circle.
The West Brom gem recently played for Italy’s Under-17s side, and it’s fair to say that he proved a point to Mason.
Idrissa at the heart of heroics for Italy U17s
Idrissa played for Italy in their 3-2 win against Uzbekistan in the under-17s FIFA World Cup knockout stages.
The Baggies starlet helped his side progress to the quarter-finals of the competition with the victory on Tuesday, as they now play Burkina Faso in the next round.

West Brom face Coventry City on Saturday after the return of Championship football following the end of the international break.
Idrissa will still be away with his country for this game, but it would be no surprise to see him given a chance once he returns to West Bromwich in the near future.
