West Brom look doomed as underlying data paints grim picture ahead of Coventry City clash
West Brom’s attacking numbers do not stack up well against Coventry City’s defensive statistics.
West Brom travel to the Coventry Building Society Arena in hopes of causing a Championship upset on Saturday.
Much has been said about West Brom fans having to be patient with Ryan Mason, but Baggies supporters cannot look past the simple fact that Coventry City may be too big a task for Albion.
West Brom and Coventry fans do not like each other, and data is pointing towards an embarrassing defeat against the Sky Blues.

Coventry top clean sheet charts while West Brom suffer in attack
West Brom’s attack has been blamed on many occasions already this campaign, with Mason chopping and changing options to try and strike the right balance.
Current attacking statistics make for bleak viewing from a West Brom perspective, which doesn’t necessarily inspire, considering the Black Country Club are now set to face arguably the best defence in the league.

At the moment, Coventry have the most clean sheets in the league with seven, while Albion have managed to score just three times in the past five games, home and away.
On top of this, the Baggies have only scored two goals in their past five away matches, with the CBS proving a difficult hunting ground for many Championship sides.

Coventry’s home record further proves why West Brom are looking doomed to failure against Frank Lampard’s side.
Coventry are unbeaten at home
Not only are the Sky Blues top of the division but, unsurprisingly, they are also top when it comes to home form in the Championship.
They have played seven games at the CBS and are unbeaten at home this season, scoring 19 and conceding a mere four times.
| Team | Played | Wins | Draws | Losses | Goal difference | Points |
| Coventry | 7 | 5 | 2 | 0 | +15 | 17 |
On the other hand, the Baggies’ away record shows they have a negative goal difference of minus four, conceding 11 times and only scoring seven on the road, in eight games.
There is no other option but for Mason to set up and hope that the Baggies can strike Coventry on counter-attacks – It’s the only way West Brom will have a chance of scoring.
