Jayson Molumby brainless, 8/10 bright spark – West Brom player ratings vs Coventry City
West Brom were beaten 3-2 by Coventry City on Saturday, and the blame needs to be pointed at Jayson Molumby.
Coventry against West Brom could have been postponed due to fog, but the game went ahead as planned at the CBS Arena on 22 November.
There was bad blood between West Brom and Coventry fans coming into the Championship clash, but everything seemed to be going the Baggies’ way in the first half.
The Albion led 2-0 at one stage in the first half through an Aune Heggebo double, but things soon all came crashing down for Ryan Mason.
Now, West Brom News has rated players based on their performances in the game.

Jayson Molumby cost West Brom the game
The Baggies were one-nil ahead before Molumby picked up a needed yellow card for a cynical foul on Coventry’s Ephron Mason-Clark.
At the time, it didn’t seem like a big deal; however, West Brom were then to ultimately throw away a 2-0 lead later on because of the midfielder.
The Sky Blues pulled a goal back before the break through Josh Eccles, who was left unmarked to head the ball home, as Molumby failed to pick up his man.
To make matters worse, Molumby was then sent off early into the second half with the Albion still leading 2-1.

Molumby was booked again for pulling Eccles back recklessly in the 49th minute, and Mason’s men then suffered through his absence.
Mikey Johnston was magic vs Coventry
Heggebo will get a lot of praise for his first-half brace against the Sky Blues, and all credit to him, he was in the right place at the right time.
However, Mikey Johnston put the ball on a plate for both of the Norwegians’ goals after two perfectly weighted crosses found the striker.
- Johnston grabbed two assists in 45 minutes
- He was substituted at half-time
- Johnston may have an injury
Not only that, but the Irishman was filling in defensively for Albion, constantly running up and down the right-hand side of play, and the Black Country club really missed his presence in the second half.

Johnston has been fantastic for West Brom of late, and put on another positive performance that travelling Baggies fans can at least be happy with.
