Jayson Molumby’s best partner made clear as West Brom redemption arc completed vs Swansea
Jayson Molumby proved the doubters wrong scored the winning goal during West Brom’s enthralling 3-2 win over Swansea City on Saturday.
The incredible scenes at The Hawthorns come just one week after Molumby’s red card against Coventry City, which cost the Baggies massively and led to widespread criticism online.
Ryan Mason was furious with Molumby, and eyebrows were certainly raised when he was named in the starting lineup against Swansea.
After a poor first half performance left West Brom 2-0 down, Aune Heggebo’s double allowed Molumby to complete the comeback in the 84th minute with a composed finish from eight yards out to send the supporters into delirium.
The Republic of Ireland international certainly came into the match with a lot to prove, and he certainly delivered when Mason needed it most.

Jayson Molumby goes from villain to hero within a week
West Brom’s win over Swansea highlighted many issues under Mason, although it’s clear that Molumby, among others, hasn’t given up on their under-fire manager.
After scoring his goal, Molumby put his finger to his lips as if to shush some of the criticism he faced.
While supporters might not like it, it shows how much football can change in the space of seven days, and no one fans will be thinking about his petulant red card anymore.
| Stat | Jayson Molumby |
| Minutes played | 90 |
| Goals | 1 |

| Ground duels won | 50% (3/6) |

His importance was vital in the second half, and he embraced the chaotic nature of the game when other players could have stepped back after the disaster against Coventry.
It’s clear his disciplinary record doesn’t make for great reading, and it has often let his side down as it did against the league leaders on 22 November.
Since arriving at West Brom in 2021-22, the 26-year-old has now received three red cards and has made 146 fouls since his arrival.
However, today has shown his effect on the squad, and Molumby has paid his dues for last week’s disaster.
He now needs to kick on from today’s match with a sustained run of good performances, as the Baggies prepare for a tough run of fixtures ahead.
To be a successful side in the Championship, you need to have a reliable spine at the heart of the team, and it’s clear that Mason is trying to implement that through Molumby and Alex Mowatt.

Jayson Molumby and Alex Mowatt are developing a top-class partnership
The 26-year-old has made 125 appearances for West Brom, and he scored his ninth goal for the Baggies against the Welsh outfit on Saturday.
Having played alongside many different midfield partners over the years, he looks to be partnered with a reliable one in Mowatt.
Mowatt has been impressive for West Brom, and his goal against Birmingham in midweek showcased his versatility at both ends of the pitch.
The Baggies currently sit 13th in the table and are just four points off sixth-placed Bristol City, and Molumby and Mowatt’s availability will be a huge factor that could define Mason’s future and West Brom’s promotion hopes.
