Ryan Mason sack update revealed, with Championship rival odds-on favourite to go next

Ryan Mason’s West Brom job appears to be safe for now following a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Swansea City.

West Brom beat Swansea 3-2 at The Hawthorns on Saturday in a game they trailed by two goals inside 11 minutes.

While West Brom may have got fortunate with Aune Heggebo‘s first goal, there is no denying the Baggies showed superb resolve to fight back.

Mason has been under pressure at West Brom for a while, but the three points against Swansea ensures he will stay afloat for now.

Ryan Mason third-favourite to be next Championship manager sacked

West Brom fans loved what they saw against Swansea in the second half and a repeat of that across the full 90 minutes is now the mission against QPR next Saturday.

Mason is now set to be in charge for that clash in West London, with the former Tottenham player and coach now only third-favourite to be the next Championship manager sacked.

According to the odds, Mason is 8/1 to be next to leave his post, followed by John Mousinho at Portsmouth (9/1), Nathan Jones at Charlton Athletic (12/1) and Valerien Ismael at Blackburn Rovers (12/1).

Many fear Mason is simply living on borrowed time, with the comeback against Swansea merely papering over the cracks.

Many names have already been touted as possible replacements for Mason, including experienced Championship manager Alex Neil and ex-Baggies boss Carlos Corberan.

Marti Cifuentes the favourite to be next Championship boss sacked

There are only currently two names on the list who are more likely to be sacked than Mason.

Leicester City’s Marti Cifuentes is considered the favourite at 8/13 after the Foxes’ poor form continued in a 3-2 loss at home to Sheffield United on Saturday.

Cifuentes was only appointed by Leicester in the summer, having previously been strongly linked with the West Brom job.

Second-favourite to be sacked is Henrik Pedersen at beleaguered club Sheffield Wednesday, who are heading for League One after being hit with a points deduction.

Mason will simply hope for a run of positive results now in order to put this sack talk firmly behind him.
