Ryan Mason has found perfect attacking formula that can spearhead West Brom promotion push
Ryan Mason’s best attack was finally on display in the second half of the comeback victory against Swansea on Saturday.
West Brom beat Swansea 3-2 at The Hawthorns after a dramatic second-half comeback was staged thanks to Mason‘s proactive substitutions.
Mason has been under increasing pressure to turn things around at The Hawthorns, and many Baggies fans may have wanted the head coach gone at half-time when trailing 2-0 to the Jacks on 29 November.
The 34-year-old made a whopping four changes at the break, with two of them coming at the top end of the field for Albion.

Isaac Price may not be part of West Brom’s best front four
Samuel Iling-Junior was poor against Swansea, and as a result, Mason made the call to replace him with Karlan Grant.
Isaac Price has been off the boil in recent games and was also underperforming in the first half, prompting West Brom‘s head coach to bring on Josh Maja in his place.
| Position | Player |
| Left-Wing | Mikey Johnston |
| Right-Wing | Karlan Grant |
| Attacking midfield (second striker) | Josh Maja |
| Striker | Aune Heggebo |
There have been serious concerns over West Brom’s attack this season, but everything just seemed to suddenly click after Mason made changes versus the Swans.
Maja was effective when sitting just behind Aune Heggebo, who scored twice, and the Nigerian provided an assist for Jayson Molumby’s winning strike.

Mason seems to have found a front four that he will surely stick with in Albion’s next Championship fixture, when they face QPR on Saturday.

West Brom set to benefit from healthy competition
Grant and Mikey Johnston should both be the number one choices on the flanks, as Heggebo’s form is making Mason’s life a lot easier at the moment.
The real dispute will be over Price’s inclusion and whether or not the Baggies boss will stick with him or Maja ahead of the busy Christmas period, where changes will be key at the right time.
Given that West Brom were able to score three goals in one half for the first time this season when playing Swansea, it would make total sense for Mason to persist with the same options.
Price has dynamite in his boots, but the youngster perhaps needs a spell out of the side with Maja primed to get back to his best for West Brom.
Either way, it’s only good news for Mason, as Price will no doubt come back with a point to prove.
