Jayson Molumby could be in his final season at West Brom with replacement lined up already

Jayson Molumby is starting to get on the nerves of West Brom fans.

The midfielder was sent off in the 3-2 defeat against Coventry City at The Hawthorns on 22 November as the Baggies scuppered a two-goal lead.

Molumby did redeem himself against Swansea City as the Albion came back from two goals behind to win 3-2 at home in the Championship on 29 November, but that may not be enough to quell the frustration among the fanbase.

While Ryan Mason has a long way to go before securing a play-offs spot this season, it looks like the recruitment department are already making plans for next summer.

Bailey Rice to replace Jayson Molumby at West Brom

Bailey Rice is attracting interest from West Brom, with the Scottish youngster’s contract at Rangers in its final months.

The Daily Mail reports on 2 December that the Ibrox hierarchy have failed to agree new terms with the midfielder and he’s set to become a free agent next summer.

Rice is highly regarded at Rangers after coming up through their youth ranks, but the 19-year-old has struggled for game time and has failed to take his chance when given the opportunities.

The Scotsman has played just 45 minutes for the Gers this season, starting in the 4-2 Premier Sports Cup win on 16 August and struggling in the first half.

Molumby’s current deal at The Hawthorns runs until 2028, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Baggies cash in on him sooner rather than later.

With the Republic of Ireland international’s inconsistency a frustration for supporters, Bilkul Fotball will be expected to reinforce the squad in January and next summer.

Ryan Mason to say goodbye to five more players next summer at The Hawthorns

Josh Maja’s contract at The Hawthorns expires at the end of the season, making him a prime candidate to no longer be at the Albion in the coming months.

West Brom could potentially lose Karlan Grant as a free agent as well, but it remains to be seen whether they will try to agree on new terms with him after playing a key role in the last few months.

Daryl Dike, Jed Wallace and Joe Wildsmith are also in the final months of their deals in B71, and they haven’t done enough to deserve fresh contracts.

The summer of 2026 may see significant change at the Black Country outfit, and the situation will be one to keep an eye on.
