Southampton vs West Brom postponement latest as weather warning issued
Ryan Mason may need a Christmas miracle to remain in charge of West Brom going into 2026.
West Brom crashed to another disappointing 3-1 defeat against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, with inconsistencies harming any real chance of promotion.
Mason remains under threat at The Hawthorns, but it won’t get any easier for him.
The Baggies travel to Southampton next to take on a side reformed under Tonda Eckert, with St Mary’s not a happy hunting ground usually.
That is, if the game goes ahead.

Weather warning now in place for Southampton
West Brom travel to the South Coast on 9 December, with no care for the fans yet again in another bumper midweek round of Championship fixtures.
The Met Office has now issued a yellow weather warning from Sunday to Tuesday, which covers Southampton and the south west, as well as Wales.
Heavy rain is expected, with possible flooding leading to potential road closures.
That could obviously affect travel too and from St Mary’s for both West Brom and Southampton fans, although no postponement or delays are expected yet.
Where are West Brom and Southampton in the Championship?
Mason was brought in to deliver Premier League football, but that is nowhere near happening.
The Albion are somehow 16th in the Championship, five points off the play-offs and seven ahead of the bottom three, where anything can clearly happen.
West Brom have now hit six consecutive away defeats, something last done under Steve Bruce, and it is likely to become seven at Southampton.

The Saints, on the other hand, are flying under Eckert, with their 3-1 victory over Birmingham making it 16 goals scored in their last five fixtures.
West Brom’s defence has been suspect, so this game has come at exactly the worst time for them.
However, with terrible weather expected, it could become an even playing field at St Mary’s, and if the Baggies still want promotion with Mason in charge, a positive result is needed here.
