Ryan Mason now favourite to be sacked next as odds slashed amid West Brom developments

Ryan Mason is now the favourite for the sack in the Championship after West Brom fell to a 3-1 defeat to QPR on Saturday.

The Baggies put in an awful display against the London club as Mason’s lineup gamble did not pay off for West Brom.

As a result, West Brom have now lost six consecutive away matches, with the playoffs looking like a distant dream.

This is despite the Black Country club being one of the favourites for promotion at the start of the season.

Therefore, given that West Brom are vastly underperforming, it is no surprise that Mason’s job could now be on the line.

Ryan Mason now just 2/1 to be sacked next in the Championship

Things appeared to be on the up at The Hawthorns after West Brom produced a 3-2 comeback against Swansea at the end of November.

However, while fans will have hoped for momentum to build after the result, this was far from the case, as QPR dominated the visitors.

Now, Mason could be on the verge of losing his job, with the odds of him being sacked next in the Championship being slashed.

At the end of November, Mason was 8/1 to be sacked next in the Championship, with the victory over Swansea no doubt adding credibility to his role.

However, Mason is now just a 2/1, making him the favourite to lose his job next in the division.

Following the Englishman is Leicester City’s Marti Cifuentes at 7/2 and then Sheffield Wednesday’s Henrik Pedersen at 4/1.

What are West Brom’s chances promotion?

According to Opta on 8 December, West Brom’s chances of promotion are slim.

The odds of winning the title are now just 0.08 per cent, while automatic promotion is 0.72 per cent.

In comparison, getting into the Premier League through the playoffs is now 8.60 per cent.

Overall, West Brom are now predicted to finish 17th in what would be their lowest position since 2000.
