West Brom fans name who they want as Ryan Mason’s successor as sack looms

West Brom fans are eager to see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their next manager if Ryan Mason is given the boot at The Hawthorns.

West Brom’s 3-1 defeat to QPR has left the Baggies 16th in the table and five points off the playoffs.

As a result, Mason is under heavy pressure at The Hawthorns, with the Englishman now the favourite to be sacked next in the Championship.

Therefore, many Baggies fans have been debating who should come in if Shilen Patel pulls the trigger, with Solskjaer’s name continuously mentioned.

Many West Brom fans want Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at The Hawthorns

Solskjaer has been out of work since August after he was sacked by Besiktas for failing to reach the league stage of the Europa Conference League.

It was the Norwegian’s first job since Manchester United, where he took his former club to a Europa League final.

Since then, Solskjaer has confirmed that he would be willing to work in the Championship, which has no doubt alerted many fans, including The Hawthorns faithful.

Therefore, when asked who they would want to replace Mason if he is given the boot, many expressed their desire to see the Norwegian come in.

Other names were also mentioned, with former Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick among the favourites.

Can Solskjaer be a success in the Championship?

Since his failed spell at Cardiff over a decade ago, Solskjaer has had plenty of positives in his management career.

Despite being sacked by both Man United and Besiktas, he held over a 51 per cent win rate at both clubs.

Losses 40
Win percentage 54.17%

However, he is yet to win anything since his first spell at Molde in 2013, which, for many, will be considered a failure given the clubs he has been at.

While the Baggies won’t have such high expectations, it remains to be seen if Solskjaer can be a success in the English second tier.
