Ryan Mason ‘gives his job the kiss of death’ as West Brom fans fume at what he’s said
Ryan Mason may have finally confirmed his West Brom fate after his latest comments.
Mason is on the verge of the sack at West Brom after his side were beaten 3-2 by Southampton at St Mary’s on Tuesday evening.
Leo Scienza’s opener and Adam Armstrong’s quickfire double saw the hosts take a three-goal lead into the break.
The Baggies did produce a second-half fightback, with Karlan Grant and Nat Phillips reducing the deficit to just one, but it wasn’t enough and Mason’s future now hangs in the balance.
Ryan Mason hints at poor West Brom recruitment
Samuel Iling-Junior missed a golden chance to equalise for West Brom against Southampton, side-footing wide from eight yards out in the final seconds.
Iling-Junior joined on loan from Aston Villa over the summer as a last-ditch replacement for Tom Fellows, who signed for the Saints in the latter stages of the window.
The Villa loanee has struggled to get up to speed at West Brom though, and has been criticised a number of times for his performances.
In a post-match interview with Express & Star, Mason seemed to blame some of the Baggies’ poor form on the failure to replace the likes of Fellows, Darnell Furlong and Torbjorn Heggem.
He said: “We had to sell a lot of players because of the situation we were in. One of them was playing today for Southampton (Tom Fellows) and they paid a lot of money for him.

West Brom fans make Ryan Mason feelings clear
Mason seems to have completely lost the support of the fans, with the Baggies faithful not seeing any improvement in the performance levels.
West Brom have now won just two of their last 10 games, dropping to 16th in the Championship as a result, six points adrift of the play-offs.
In response to Mason’s comments about the summer recruitment, one fan felt that the 34-year-old had signed his own death wish.
Other supporters were unhappy that Mason was taking his frustrations out on the club hierarchy and essentially blaming them for the Baggies’ poor form.
Some West Brom fans have simply had enough, urging the club to end Mason’s time at the Hawthorns ahead of the game against Sheffield United on Friday night.
Mason couldn’t be facing the Blades at a worse time either, as they are unbeaten in their last six games under Chris Wilder and are the current form team in the division.
