Grady Diangana reacts as ex-West Brom star spotted at Valencia training with Carlos Corberan

Grady Diangana has responded to his former West Brom teammate Erik Pieters after his post with Carlos Corberan.

Pieters departed The Hawthorns two summers ago at the expiry of his West Brom contract, and spent time with Luton and Derby last term.

Corberan left West Brom for Valencia this time last year, having done excellent work in just over two years at the club, while Diangana also left the Baggies when his deal ran out this summer before joining Elche.

Pieters looks to be heading into the next stage of his career after making only one appearance last season at Derby and Corberan has given him a helping hand.

Corberan hosts Erik Pieters at Valencia

The Dutch defender appears to be looking to get into coaching and has spent time with his former Albion boss in Spain to get a better understanding of what goes into it.

“Last month I spent a few days at Valencia” Pieters wrote in a post on his Instagram picture with Corberan.

“Great to catch up with my former manager and assistant manager, who supported me through an important stage of my career, and to learn from the staff while getting a proper look behind the scenes of this massive club.

“A valuable experience that’s helping me understand the game even better and preparing me for the next step.

“A big thank you to everyone at Valencia for the warm welcome and insight.”

In a comment on the post Diangana responded with a heart emoji.

West Brom miss Corberan as Ryan Mason on the way out

Corberan had his detractors at times during his time at The Hawthorns but if the club’s fortunes under Valerien Ismael and Steve Bruce prior to the Spaniard’s arrival weren’t enough to demonstrate his worth the direction of travel since his departure certainly should.

Tony Mowbray’s much-heralded return didn’t pan out as hoped and Ryan Mason currently looks to be on the way towards the sack.

West Brom currently sit 16th in the Championship and the hopes of promotion that seemed so genuine under Corberan have very much faded.

Had he been in charge for a period where he wasn’t so badly hamstrung by the finances and the turmoil of a takeover it is fair for fans to wonder where the club might have been able to go, and with Valencia also struggling towards the bottom of La Liga the man himself might also have some of those thoughts himself.
