‘I’m serious’ – West Brom fans want to re-sign flop who’s ‘the best player since prime Pele’

West Brom fans cannot believe the form that Reyes Cleary has been in since leaving The Hawthorns this summer.

Cleary left West Brom to join Barnsley earlier this year after internal figures at the Black Country Club decided he wasn’t going to get game time at The Hawthorns.

Since departing, Cleary has been on fire for Barnsley, and even netted potentially the goal of the year after scoring from within his own half in October.

West Brom have had attacking struggles this season, which makes letting the 21-year-old leave for next to nothing seem a silly move now in supporters’ eyes.

Baggies fans are now “serious” about re-signing Cleary after his latest performance, taking to social media in their droves to react.

West Brom fans say they were impatient with Reyes Cleary

In 20 games for League One side Barnsley, Cleary has a whopping 14 goal contributions, and his assist tally of eight may suggest West Brom could have done with his creativity.

The Englishman had been at West Bromwich for 16 years and will have a deep connection to the club, meaning a return cannot be ruled out.

His latest showing was phenomenal, scoring and assisting twice to help Barnsley come from behind to beat Leyton Orient 3-2 at Oakwell.

Baggies supporters have caught up with Cleary’s display on 13 December, and are convinced that he is “the best player since prime Pele”.

One West Brom fan said: “Just pay the money to get him back, I’m serious.”

Another Baggies supporter said: “Should never have got rid of him in the first place. Why do our youngsters always thrive elsewhere? Oh, I know. They are given a chance, that’s why. We don’t learn.”

It’s clear to see that supporters were never in favour of letting Cleary go in the first place.

Cleary example showcases an evident problem at West Brom

Cleary is just one of many young players who have been touted as highly talented but never allowed to really showcase their skills.

Yes, he had his injury struggles, but the glimpses of talent and his youth record alone should have been enough for the Baggies to put a little faith in the forward.

Suggestions are that the Albion don’t have a buy-back clause in the deal with Barnsley, as hopefully it’s the last time that West Brom give up on their youth so quickly.

Josh Griffiths is a recent example of why you give the youngsters a chance. Ryan Mason needs to be looking at the youth ranks, because there is plenty of raw talent waiting to explode.
