West Brom fixture re-arranged in surprise late twist

West Brom’s away day to Swansea City in the FA Cup is set to be shown live on TV next month in a late twist.

In what has been an uninspiring season to date, many of The Hawthorns faithful would have hoped for an exciting draw in the cup to give fans something to look forward to.

West Brom crashed out of the Carabao Cup to Derby County in the first round, in what was a disappointing result.

However, fans were quickly dismayed last week when it was revealed that the Baggies would face another away day to Swansea City in the new year.

Yet, the broadcasters have now chosen this fixture for TV coverage, in a bizarre twist for the all-Championship clash.

Swansea City vs West Brom to be shown live on Discovery+

West Brom were already set to travel to Swansea.com Stadium on New Year’s Day for their Championship fixture.

Now, the Emirates FA Cup has confirmed that they will face the Welsh side again 10 days later.

The Baggies’ cup tie against Swansea has been confirmed for 11 January, with kick-off at 2:30pm.

This fixture will then be shown on Discovery+, with it being one of three all-Championship ties to be broadcast live in a surprise twist.

West Brom’s record against Swansea explained

West Brom overcame Swansea City in their last meeting, with the Baggies staging a wonderful comeback to win 3-2 after being 2-0 down at the break.

This helped continue the Black Country club’s solid record against the Welsh side, where they have won three of their last five meetings.

However, when they have travelled to the Swansea.com Stadium in recent times, they have struggled.

Games between West Brom and Swansea City have traditionally been close

West Brom have not beaten Swansea at their ground since 2018, enduring three defeats and two draws since then.

With replays now abolished from the first round, Ryan Mason will have to put an end to this trend if his side are to progress into the fourth round.
