Callum Styles makes good on his promise as West Brom relay official announcement

Callum Styles was superb for West Brom as they saw off Sheffield United at The Hawthorns last time out.

Aune Heggebo grabbed most of the plaudits for his goal in West Brom’s 2-0 win over Sheffield United last Friday, with Karlan Grant netting the other.

Styles was also superb in both a defensive and attacking aspect, meanwhile, in a win that eased the sack pressure on Ryan Mason at West Brom.

And the Hungary international’s performance has rightly been hailed in an announcement made on Tuesday.

Callum Styles named in Championship Team of the Week

Styles has really stepped up of late, with his performance against the Blades one of a number of impressive displays in recent weeks.

The full-back registered an assist in West Brom’s 3-1 defeat to QPR, with that the first goal he has set up this season.

Styles recently vowed to add more attacking edge to his game, and he has very much done that on the basis of recent displays.

Against Sheffield United, the 25-year-old created two key chances – only Karlan Grant (three) could better that among Albion’s players – and got eight crosses into the opposition box.

Styles was also solid defensively, leading the way for tackles (five) and also registering three interceptions and three clearances.

It is perhaps unsurprising, then, that Styles was named in the Championship Team of the Week, as announced by West Brom via X on Tuesday.

Styles’ West Brom teammate can consider himself unlucky

Mason will now be after more of the same from Albion after the impressive win over Chris Wilder’s side.

Styles stood out, but Heggebo was also very good and is unfortunate to have missed out on the Team of the Week.

Heggebo also registered two key passes on top of scoring the key breakthrough goal at The Hawthorns.

Patrick Agyemang and Jovon Makama were instead given the nod up top in the EFL’s team, though, which is complied using statistical data.

If Heggebo and Styles produce similar performances against Hull City this weekend, there is no reason why Albion cannot return home with all three points.
