Ryan Mason will struggle for excuses with West Brom rock bottom in grim Championship reveal
West Brom have given away goals too cheaply under Ryan Mason this season.
West Brom beat Sheffield United 2-0 at The Hawthorns last time out, which felt like the first time in forever that Albion managed to keep a clean sheet.
Ryan Mason has been under pressure as West Brom’s head coach lately and the win was much needed, but now the Baggies need to show that they can kick on.
With a busy upcoming period of fixtures, Mason will be hoping to gain as many points as possible, but that will only come from building consistency from the back.
The latest Championship reveal proves that West Brom need to cut out mistakes, which, quite frankly, Mason has no excuses for.

West Brom make the most errors leading to shots in the Championship
West Brom want to reach the play-offs this season, but right now it feels like whenever a step is taken forward, the Baggies take two back.
Mason’s attack was struggling in the early parts of the campaign, but now it’s thriving. However, the defence seems to have regressed in recent weeks.
| First 10 games | Last 11 games |
| 11 goals conceded | 17 goals conceded |
According to Albion Analysis on X, no team in the division has made more errors that have led to shots on goal than West Brom at 17.
Seven of these errors have come in the last three games.
This means that Albion are giving away a free shot on goal from an individual error almost once per game.

West Brom have an experienced defence, it’s on Ryan Mason
West Brom signed the likes of Chris Mepham and Nat Phillips in the summer, two very high-quality centre-backs who have experience at fighting at the top end of the Championship.
Not only that, but Charlie Taylor also has a vast knowledge of the Championship, and there should be a perfect blend in Albion’s backline.
But the stats aren’t showing this, and surely it’s only down to Mason.
The 34-year-old may be getting there; however, he will need some extra time to find the perfect mix, and with the January transfer window around the corner, he could be given extra options.
