Supercomputer makes West Brom play-off prediction – and the result is surprising
West Brom are firmly in mid-table of the Championship after a very inconsistent start to the season.
Ryan Mason has come under huge sack pressure over the last few weeks, with supporters becoming frustrated at his style of play.
West Brom did manage to beat Sheffield United 2-0 on Friday, but they still sit 16th in the second tier, with just 28 points from 21 games.
Despite the current negativity around The Hawthorns, Mason’s side could still be in with a chance of making the play-offs.

West Brom’s chances of making Championship play-offs revealed
West Brom are currently six points adrift of the play-off places, paying the price for several poor results over the past few months.
The Baggies have only won three of their last 11 Championship games, picking up just 11 points in that time.
Many West Brom fans will have already given up hope of their side finishing the season in the top six, given their recent form.
However, despite their current league position, the Opta Supercomputer is still giving the Midlands outfit a 10.38 per cent shot at making the play-offs, with a 0.42 per cent chance of automatic promotion.
| Position | Team | Games | Points |
| 14 | Watford | 21 | 29 |
| 15 | Wrexham | 21 | 28 |
| 16 | West Brom | 21 | 28 |
| 17 | Charlton | 20 | 24 |
Mason’s side are nine points clear of the bottom three, and the supercomputer says that there is only a two per cent chance that they get relegated.

Ryan Mason must fix clear problem for West Brom to make play-offs
West Brom face Hull City at the MKM Stadium on Saturday, but they go into the game on a run of seven consecutive away defeats.
The Baggies have been woeful on their travels so far this season, picking up just nine points across the whole campaign.
Mason has been unable to explain West Brom’s shocking away form, but must find a solution quickly if his side are to have any chance of making the play-offs.
Hull currently occupy the final play-off spot, sitting in sixth, so West Brom will be desperate to secure all three points and close the gap to the Tigers.
The Midlands outfit will hope that they can build on last Friday’s win over Sheffield United and finally get some joy away from The Hawthorns.
Either way, it’s a surprise to be speaking so positively.
