Carlos Corberan once tried and failed to sign two Hull City stars when he was at West Brom
It’s been almost a year since Carlos Corberan ditched West Brom for Valencia last Christmas Eve.
Since then, Tony Mowbray and Ryan Mason have struggled to match the results the Spaniard oversaw when he was in charge at The Hawthorns, leading Albion to finish ninth in the Championship last season, while they currently sit in 16th.
Corberan also oversaw the introduction of several good signings at West Brom, including the likes of Torbjorn Heggem, Mikey Johnston, Isaac Price and Callum Styles.
However, the Spaniard also tried to utilise his links to Leeds United to add to his squad at The Hawthorns, albeit to no avail.

Joe Gelhardt and Cody Drameh were West Brom targets
West Brom head to Hull City on Saturday as Mason gets prepared to take on his former club in the Championship.
One player in particular that Albion will need to be wary of is Joe Gelhardt, who has scored 10 goals in 19 Championship appearances for Hull this season while on loan from Leeds.

In January 2023, Corberan reportedly looking at signing Gelhardt for West Brom after previously coaching the striker during his time at Leeds.
And Gelhardt wasn’t the only Leeds player the ex-Baggies boss wanted at the club during his time there.
In the 2023 summer transfer window, Corberan made a push to sign Cody Drameh from Leeds.

The right-back joined Wayne Rooney’s Birmingham on loan instead of the Albion, before signing permanently with Hull a year later.
Hull City vs West Brom: Who’s played for both?
There have been a lot of players over the years who’ve represented the blue and white stripes of the Baggies, and the orange and black of the Tigers.
John Kaye is possibly the most successful.
The Yorkshire-born player played over 280 times for West Brom between 1963 and 1971, winning the League Cup in 1966 and the FA Cup in 1968 with Albion, before leaving for Hull, where he retired in 1975.
More recently, there have been some popular names star for both teams.
James Chester, Curtis Davies, Conor Townsend, Jake Livermore, Shane Long, Boaz Myhill, Liam Ridgewell and Robert Koren are among those to have featured for both sides.
Kamil Grosicki, Paul McShane, Lee Peltier and Jay Simpson are perhaps among the more forgettable.
