Ryan Mason can have no complaints as horrendous West Brom reveal could spell the end
Ryan Mason remains under heavy pressure at West Brom as supporters grow more and more frustrated at poor performances and results.
West Brom were beaten 1-0 by Hull City on Saturday, meaning they remain 16th in the Championship and now seven points adrift of the play-off places.
Oli McBurnie scored the only goal of the contest from the penalty spot after Nat Phillips inexplicably handled the ball in the box, before Alfie Gilchrist was sent off to rub salt into the wound.
The Baggies have now lost eight consecutive Championship away games, and an even more concerning trend is emerging.
West Brom horrifically inconsistent under Ryan Mason
Mason has already lost much of the West Brom fanbase, who feel that he doesn’t have the tools to pull the Baggies out of their current slump.
One clear issue for the West Midlands side this season has been their inconsistency, but most wouldn’t have realised just how bad the situation has become.
West Brom have won eight games so far this season, but their record in the matches after those victories is nothing short of abysmal.
Mason’s side have failed to string together two straight wins all season, losing seven and drawing one of the games immediately after picking up three points.
Ryan Mason surely set to pay the price with West Brom sack
While Mason still has the backing of the West Brom board for the time being, there is only so long that the current form can be accepted.
If the Baggies fail to put together a winning run in the near future, then supporters will begin to voice their concerns in the stadium.
Ultimately, results dictate, no matter how well-liked Mason is around The Hawthorns.
West Brom have now picked up just three wins in their last 12 games, and their current inconsistency could be Mason’s eventual downfall.
The Midlands outfit have two home fixtures before the end of the year, taking on Bristol City and QPR respectively.
If Mason can guide his side to two straight wins for the first time this season, he will give himself some breathing space going into January, but the alternative would see him heaped under yet more pressure.
