Ryan Mason spotted fuming at MKM Stadium as West Brom problems mount
Ryan Mason has cut a frustrated figure on the West Brom touchline in recent weeks as his position comes under increasing scrutiny.
West Brom were beaten 1-0 by Hull City on Saturday, as Mason’s side were subjected to yet another defeat on their travels.
Oli McBurnie scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot, and the Baggies are now on a run of eight straight Championship losses away from home.
Mason still had the backing of the West Brom board as it stands, but the 36-year-old was clearly feeling the pressure at the MKM Stadium.
Ryan Mason rages at one person during West Brom vs Hull
West Brom finished the game against Hull with 10 men, after Alfie Gilchrist was sent off for a fairly innocuous challenge on Liam Millar.
Gilchrist, who came on as a 67th-minute substitute for George Campbell, was dismissed just eight minutes later by referee Ruebyn Ricardo.
According to The Express & Star reporter Lewis Cox, Mason was furious with Ricardo even before the red card, after Ousmane Diakite was penalised for a challenge on Hull midfielder Matt Crooks early in the second half.
Diakite avoided a booking, but the West Brom bench still heavily protested the decision, with assistant manager Nigel Gibbs going in the book as a result.
West Brom only have themselves to blame against Hull
Despite the questionable performance of referee Ricardo at the MKM Stadium, West Brom must look at themselves first before laying the blame elsewhere.
The Baggies had 13 shots on goal, and more than enough chances to take at least a point back to the Midlands, but poor finishing once again let them down.
Isaac Price spurned a huge opportunity in the first half, blazing over the bar from just six yards out with the goal gaping.

West Brom are now sitting 16th in the Championship and seven points adrift of the play-offs, with their chances of a late run for the top six diminishing.
The problems are mounting up for Mason, and he will need to turn around his side’s form immediately to avoid the sack.
