West Brom fans hit back at Morgan Rogers ‘rage bait’ – ‘Way off the mark’
Man City continue to claim Morgan Rogers as one of their own.
Rogers is certainly making his name heard in the Premier League this season, which is where West Brom aspire to be this time next year.
However, with the Baggies 14 points from the automatic promotion places, and seven away from the play-offs, it is looking more like fantasy than aspiration at this point.
Rogers has 12 goal contributions for Aston Villa so far this season, and the latest claims from Man City have caused uproar among the Albion fanbase.
West Brom fans join forces to correct Rogers claim
Albion have had some incredible talent come through their academy, and unbeknownst to many, Rogers is among them.
The 23-year-old started his journey at Albion when he was 15, with several seasons spent in the youth setup before he made the move to Man City in the 2019-20 season.
Rogers spent a few seasons out on loan before a permanent move to Middlesbrough and then to Aston Villa, where he has since set the Premier League alight.
However, far too commonly, Man City fans have claimed that they created the player he is today, and that claim was once again shared by a supporters account by the name of City Chief.
“Another quality player developed within the Manchester City academy system,” their post reads. “One that got away.”
As expected, Baggies supporters flooded the comments to correct them.
One fan replied: “He’d already played in Albion’s first team when you signed him from us,” and another labelled the claim as “rage bait.”
Another fan of Albion said: “You’ve spelt West Brom Academy wrong mate,” with almost 100 replies saying the same thing.
Who else has come through West Brom’s academy?
There have been many successful youth talents emerge at West Brom, many of whom have gone on to play in the Premier League.
Rogers is the latest big success, but the likes of Chris Wood, Ashley Williams, Tom Fellows and Finn Azaz have all come through the ranks.
Of those who were developed at West Brom, only Romaine Sawyers has made more league appearances than Wood, who is still playing in the Premier League today.
There are going to be many others who follow a similar path in the future, and no doubt, Albion will not get the credit they deserve when they emerge as stars.
