Andrew Nestor told to sack Ryan Mason after video shared following latest West Brom loss
West Brom supporters have simply had enough of Ryan Mason following Friday’s home loss to Bristol City.
Ousmane Diakite’s late goal was not enough as West Brom were defeated 2-1 by Bristol City at The Hawthorns.
Mason was already under extreme sack pressure at West Brom even before this latest defeat – Albion’s 11th in 23 Championship matches this season.
West Brom’s players still back Mason, it has been reported, but it is clear the fanbase now want a change with the Black Country club a lowly 16th in the table.
West Brom fans tired of Ryan Mason’s reaction to defeats
It has been a regular theme this season that Mason comes out after defeats – no matter the calibre of the opposition – and talks about how West Brom were hard done by.
More specifically, Mason talks up the chances created by his players that were not taken.
In a clip uploaded to Albion’s official X account shortly after full-time on Friday, Mason said: “It was a tough afternoon.
“Obviously to concede so early on, the feeling isn’t great and changes the whole feeling around the stadium, although it was clearly offside. But we reacted well.
“We created opportunities that we need to take, which we weren’t able to do. Then there was a clear red card with an elbow. It doesn’t seem to be going our way at the moment from that side.
“It’s a difficult day and extremely tough to come back from. We’ve done it once but it’s not something you can do it all the time, even though we did respond well.”
Supporters pretty much acted in unison in calling for change after this latest interview, with one saying: “Same interview after every game. [Andrew] Nestor, sack him.”
Another also called on president and sporting director Nestor to take action as he posted: “Tell Nestor to read the room and [sack] this clown.”
Another fan added: “Time to go… same interview every week, no personality, no tactics, no style of play and players look lost at times.
“With a poor keeper that looks unfit, and making a player captain whose mistakes normally lead to goals against and constantly gives the ball away, is shocking.”
Michael Carrick the frontrunner to succeed Mason at West Brom
The bookmakers have former Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick as the favourite to take over from Mason should he indeed be sacked.
| Games | Wins | Draws | Losses | Points | GF | GA | GD |
| 23 | 8 | 4 | 11 | 28 | 26 | 31 | -5 |
Familiar names such as Carlos Corberan and Slaven Bilic are also in the running to take charge at West Brom.
Albion have a quick turnaround in fixtures as they host QPR at The Hawthorns on Monday, which could in a way help Mason.
The young Englishman will surely be given until at least then to help turn things around, but supporters have certainly already made their feelings quite clear.
