Carlos Corberan to West Brom odds shift amid latest Hawthorns developments

Carlos Corberan could yet be set for a stunning return to The Hawthorns following another damaging West Brom defeat for Ryan Mason.

West Brom lost 2-1 to Bristol City on Saturday in the Championship, as The Hawthorns was filled out for a Boxing Day game to forget.

Albion remain in 16th on 28 points after the loss, and the aim of the play-offs is getting further out of reach for the Baggies.

There have been serious calls for West Brom to sack Mason, with Corberan one of a few favourites now tipped to replace the 34-year-old.

Carlos Corberan second favourite for West Brom job

Corberan was a much-loved figure at West Brom, as many supporters were sad to see the 42-year-old depart last December.

The Spaniard is now managing back in his homeland with Valencia, but according to the bookmakers, he is the second favourite to replace Mason at The Hawthorns.

One major bookmaker has now slashed Corberan’s odds down to 5/1, with the former Baggies boss the second favourite for the Albion job behind Michael Carrick.

Corberan sits in front of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Russell Martin, who are both 6/1 to be the next West Brom manager.

What is Corberan’s situation at Valencia amid sack rumours?

Corberan joined La Liga side Valencia at a time when the club was struggling, but he managed to turn things around.

But earlier this season, Corberan found his Valencia job at risk following a poor string of results, but he’s since got back to winning ways with Valencia.

Corberan’s last 10 games in charge of Valencia:

There is a strong possibility that the ex-Baggies boss will remain in charge of Valencia for the remainder of the season following an upturn in results.

It would be a tough task for Albion to persuade the Spaniard to come back, given Mason’s underperformance with the Baggies in the league.

However, if Shilen Patel and Co. could make a convincing enough pitch for Corberan to return, we could see him back in the dugout at The Hawthorns in the near future.
