Andrew Nestor at fault as West Brom flush £3.3m down the drain with latest Tammer Bany update

Tammer Bany’s signing may be one of West Brom’s biggest mistakes in recent years.

West Brom signed Bany from Danish side Randers FC earlier this year in a deal worth £3.3million, which now looks to be a total waste of money.

Andrew Nestor sanctioned the move, and since then, the attacker has managed to make just five appearances for Albion, and only one for Ryan Mason this term.

Following West Brom’s 2-1 defeat to Bristol City on Saturday, Mason explained further details on Bany‘s absence from the squad.

Tammer Bany deemed not fit enough to train for West Brom

Bany has struggled with injury problems ever since he arrived at The Hawthorns, and has never had the chance to impress supporters.

The 22-year-old has made the bench on several occasions for Mason, but now it looks like he may never play for Albion again.

Speaking after the defeat to Bristol City, Mason revealed that Bany is now expected to see a specialist, as it seems like Albion will need to admit defeat in the case of the forward.

Mason said, as quoted by Express & Star: “He needs to see a specialist. That’s the reality.”

It has also been suggested that the winger is not even fit enough to train with West Brom‘s senior team, as Nestor truly has nowhere to hide with this transfer.

All in all, Bany’s signing is pound for pound, one of the worst in Albion’s history, which makes what Nestor said about his signing seem even more foolish.

What Andrew Nestor said about bringing Bany to West Brom

West Brom have missed Daryl Dike for years due to injury, despite splashing a major fee on the American, and it’s a similar case with Bany.

The Jordanian is contracted to the Black Country Club until the summer of 2028, but even hopes of a loan deal to help Bany gain fitness now look unlikely.

Looking back at what West Brom’s sporting director said earlier this year on the acquisition of Bany is now laughable.

Nestor said, as quoted by the Shropshire Star in February: “There has been significant interest in him across Europe, and with good reason, as he is one of the most effective attacking players in Denmark.

“He is someone we can count on as part of our squad building plans both for now and in future years, so we are pleased to get the deal over the line.”

An embarrassment that Nestor and Co. need to be held accountable for, as fans will be hoping for better decisions to be made in the January transfer window.
